    Petroleum and Energy studies is amongst the few niche courses offered by various engineering institutes in India. Unlike other popular engineering programmes, the students who opt for of these courses are very few.
    Petroleum Engineering generally deals with the production of hydrocarbons. The exploration and production activities fall under the upstream sector of the Oil & Natural Gas industry which has more demand than the downstream sector where the recruiters prefer chemical engineers over petroleum engineers.
