Which are the best colleges to pursue a course in Archaeology in India and why?

The basic eligibility criteria for Bachelors course in History/ Archaeology (i.e. BA level) of three-year duration is 10+2 or equivalent. After graduation one can opt for a Post graduate Diploma or Degree course in Archaeology. The colleges for archaeology in India are – Mumbai University- BA in Ancient Culture Banaras Hindu University - BA in Ancient Culture and History, MA in Archaeology Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda - BA in Ancient Indian History Culture and Archaeology, MA in Archaeology Deccan College of Post Graduate and Research, Pune - Post graduation in Archaeology Delhi Institute of Heritage Research and Management, Delhi Institute Of Archaeology, ASI, New Delhi - PhD in Archaeology - Post Graduate Diploma in Archaeology Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi - MA in Archaeology As not many colleges offer a BA in Archaeology, you can pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Anthropology or History as these courses prepare you for becoming an archaeologist. After Bachelor's you can do MA in Archaeology from above mentioned universities that offer MA in archaeology.
