Yes, being in the fashion industry (digital marketing) and now, fashion design industry, I now know one incredible platform for emerging designers. It's called Utelier. What it essentially does is-connect designers, manufacturers, buyers, and specialists (lawyers, illustrators, pattern-cutters, etc.) with each other. The best part about the Utelier is that, it is free at the moment and always free for students. Now, the tools it provides it are super easy to use. You just have to sign-up as one of the above and create your profile. Your profile would have the following: Company history - Product specialisation - Client history - MOQ/ minimum order quantity - Location Other details like whether they agree to take other designs, if they use spec sheet, how many people they employ, etc. - Directory: Find everyone you want. A designer who has just started and isn't strong financially, can make use of the said profile as their website and mention it in their business cards. You can directly send a message to anyone from the website and Utelier won't intervene unless there's a dispute raised. - Spec: This tool is free at the moment. Since everything is moving on a digital scale, spec tool will come in handy for designers and factory owners to better exchange ideas and lays it down in a detailed manner. It contains things like size, materials used, colours, texture, etc. - Tender-: For a newbie, it is so difficult to spend time in the factory and deal with the production team. Both the parties are often irritated by the way each one works (here are 5 reasons why) so this service will help both parties trust each other.
