Hi Ankit,
Heartiest congratulations for securing 2nd rank in state.
However, 49 is too low a score to secure a seat in a government reputed college. However, you may appear for other entrance exams and secure a seat in a reputed institution.
Other engineering exams that you can appear for :

You may also seek admission in private institutes as well.
Hope this information helps. Please feel free to revert. Click on the thumbs up or mark it as the best, if you found this useful.

THough you seem to be god student but somehow your JEE doesn't support you. My suggestion is that you give some entrance exams of goof good colleges and universities to get maximum academic facilities like scholarship, faculty, research, platform, exposure. Log in to some good sites like RV, LPU, RAI etc

Your first preference must be for Government college but in case you didn't get a top ranked government college in your region, you needn't worry. Some top university prefer to give admission to top rank students on the basis of their 12th merit and you must also appear for other university exams as this creates a wider scope for admission into a reputed institute. Best wishes
