Which are the most important topics to focus for CA preparation?

There isn't any such important topic for CA exams, still, I would suggest you to refer your practice manual's initial pages in order to get an overview of weightage of every chapter of the syllabus.
Otherwise, what all CA requires is regular studies.

For theory subjects like auditing, law, information technology etc. you should focus on preparing concise notes and keep on revisiting them. The gist is to summarize these subjects to have a quick and complete overview of these subjects. By making it short and concise, you can revise it easily during the exams which would otherwise be a tough task.
For practical subjects like accounts, costing, finance, taxation etc. you should emphasize on the underlying concepts and conventions and the laws. I think, you need to be a little more specific with the subject that you are asking for, and the level for which you are asking (Foundation, Inter, Final), because each subject at each level has a different set of challenges.
However, a general solution to your question is -
1. For subjects like Taxation, Accounts, Finance, Costing- you need to focus on the law, concepts, principles and conventions which are the underlying base for these so-called-practical subjects. If you understand the intention of the law and the principles etc., these subjects will be a cake walk for you.
