Which are the various courses for Fashion Designing and how are they different?

There are many types of courses in fashion designing field. First is B.Des i.e., Bachelor of Designing which most of the design students wish to pursue. It is a 4-year course under the branch you choose which can be apparel, footwear, accessories, automobile, furniture, interior designing, etc. Second is BA in fashion designing which is simply Bachelor of Arts in fashion designing. It is a 3-year course where one studies the basics of every possible branch of fashion designing. The third is B.Voc (Bachelor of Vocation) in fashion designing which is a vocational course of 5 years. In this, the first three years are of graduation, whereas, the last two years are for postgraduation. It is an integrated course of Bachelor's and Master's degree. The subjects in this course are very basic and they include basic Hindi, maths and other primary subjects. Fourth is CAD which stands for computer-aided design. In this course, most of the things you learn are related to computer applications, that is design related software, etc. The duration of this course varies in different colleges. It may be of one month or one and a half month, maybe of six months or a year. The last course is Diploma which is a 1-2 year course. It can be done after completing class 10th.

Hi, There are five types of fashion designing courses: 1. Bachelor of Design in fashion designing: This is a three years or four years professional course which is the best for learning about fashion designing and one can get good job opportunities after doing Bachelors in fashion design. This course is offered in India only by NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology). NIFT is a government college and falls under the list of top 50 design colleges all over the world. Other colleges only offer undergraduate Diploma, even if they offer the professional degree then it's not recognised by the Government of India. After doing a Bachelor's degree in fashion design from NIFT, students get a starting salary package of three Lacs per annum. Its market value is much better than the other colleges of India. 2-Master of Design in fashion designing: This is a two-year Master's degree offered by the colleges like NID ( national institute of design ). At NID, this course is named as apparel design (it's like fashion designing only). This course is offered to the students who have completed their Bachelor's degree. If you do it from NID then you should have a Bachelor's degree in the same field from a recognised college. 3-Undergraduate Diploma in fashion design: This is usually of three years but it can be of four years depending on the college you are doing it from. Like Pearl Academy offers it as a four-year programme and NIIFT offers it as a three-year programme (it's a Punjab government institute don't confuse it with NIFT). Of course, it's less valuable than a Bachelor's degree. 4-Post Graduate Diploma in fashion design: The duration of this course is two years. Post Graduate Diploma is offered by Pearl Academy. Pearl Academy doesn't have any such requirement for this course, anyone who has completed a Bachelor's degree in any field and cleared the entrance test is eligible for the course. But I don't think that one can learn enough from this course because it's too short to learn about fashion designing. According to the fee, colleges will charge for the same. Fashion designing is a vast field, one can't learn it in a short period of time. 5-Short Diploma courses: These courses are for a very short period of six months to a year. NIFT also offers it. These courses are good for the people who don't want to make their career in the fashion designing field, but are keen to learn about the fashion designing as a hobby.

There are three types of courses for pursuing fashion designing that one can think of joining. The first one is a degree course, that has a duration of three years and is considered a legitimate Bachelor's degree. This course teaches students in and out of the course and is given complete knowledge of the course along with some practical knowledge. This is the most demanded degree in the industry of jewelry designing. Students having this degree have an edge over others and are given more importance. The second one is a Diploma course which has a duration of 6 months to one year. This course is a short-term course and help students learn the basics of the course. The third one is a certificate course. The duration fo certificate varies from one month to six months. As the duration of the course is very short, the course only justifies to give you an overview of the course. One can pursue this course along with a degree course to get a better job and get the preference over others while going for an interview.
