Which area of study in Social Work offers better career growth prospects?

Depends on your definition of ‘best job’ but all I can say is that after pursuing Masters in social work from prestigious universities such as TISS, unless you have wasted your time at the campus, you can easily get a good job in various sectors such as NGOs, CSR and Government departments or allied initiatives. Usually people forget that research is a fundamental part of becoming a Social worker professionally. To answer your question, if you are looking for good paying jobs, the toppers at TISS in Social work with CSR inclinations are able to get around 10 to 15 lakh per annum jobs in that sector. But usually, students in TISS opt for jobs which allow them to connect to rural areas and understand the reality of India and hence they choose NGOs and Government departments. These usually pay in the range of 2 to 6 lakhs per annum. But the experience in these organisations can push their careers in a long term towards new heights. And the best field level organisations working in the social sector always do approach TISS for placements and recently their pay scales have increased as well.

Social workers help people solve social, financial, and health problems. With government regulation on Corporate Social Responsibility, there is a large number of career opportunities for MSW graduates. Social workers MSW graduates) take on jobs in broadly following three sectors. (a)NGOs I. e. Non-Governmental Organizations wherein they work in the fields of childcare, healthcare, women, literacy, environment and AIDS. (b)Multilateral organizations such as involved actively in fieldwork, policymaking, managing objectives on an international scale across countries. (c)In the corporate sector, as management involved in Corporate Social Responsibility where they get involved in welfare issues like water harvesting, schools and computer education in and around the company factories or campus.
