Which branch in Merchant navy is better, marine engineering (to become a chief engineer) or to nautical science (to become the captain)? I found in some books that marine engineers have more opportunities today. What is its reason?+what are the qualifications to become the CEO of a shipping company?

it depends on how you look at the field Captain has more responsibility and power and is better paid but Marine engineer has better oppurtunities in land if they find sea life boring . marine engg work is very tough comparitively.
