Go as per your interest. Mechanical might seem better, as it's a core branch and is evergreen. But, if you are hardworking, be wise to choose, as mechanical may end you up into very less salary and too much competition unless you pursue it from a prestigious institute.

Hello, B.Tech in ECE is a good option in today's requirement and there are good placements in industry. But companies only take students who have extra skills along with degree. They don't just take a degree holders. So do extra courses and job will be in your hand. Best of luck.

I prefer mechanical is better. If you are interested in a particular subject and interested in knowing all about that particular subject, you can do wonders.
