Which branch of engineering is better among CS, CSE, IT and software engineering?

    Hello,
    These days, emphasis is on CSE, Civil and Mech, but it also depends upon your choice. If you are somebody who wants to sit in an AC office then of course CSE is for you but if you are somebody who doesn't mind working in the field then Civil and Mech. Are very good options. These days Civil and Mech. Students are also getting good offers. Now the most important thing is the university/ college that you choose for your degree. These days we have many good government as well as private universities like IITs, IITTs, NITs, LPU, SRM, etc. offering admissions in different engineering branches.     Rohan don't go with which stream is better. Go with what you want do after studying B.Tech. You may take following considerations. If you like computer, want to build crazy application or something related to software go with Computer Science engineering. If you like playing with machines/motors or electricity go ahead with Mechanical engineering. Or Electrical engineering. If you are India, after studying Electronics and communication engineering most of the students gets job/work in IT companies. Only few percent gets chance in electronics companies.     Hello Roshan,
    CS and CSE are the same branch, computer science. Different colleges and universities refer to it by either of the two names.
    While CSE, equally covers both hardware and software aspects, IT and software engineering has a lesser focus on the hardware aspect. However, this difference hardly matters as universities frequently keep updating the syllabus for each branch.
    Unless and until, you get a job in a hardware manufacturing company like Intel, Logitech, etc., this little difference in the syllabus hardly matters. Most of the jobs offered is in the software domain.
