Mechanical engineering is an evergreen core branch of engineering with scope in all types of industries. Automobile Engineering is a niche branch with scope in Automobile industry and it's ancillaries. Therefore, scope of Mechanical engineering is better in comparison to Automobile Engineering. I will suggest that you do B.Tech in Mechanical engineering and M.Tech in Automobile Engineering.

Mechanical engineering is much better than automobile. Automobile is a part of mechanical engineering or you can say, one upgraded version than automobile. You can too get an automobile related job with the B.E mechanical degree.

Actually Automobile is quite u can say a part of Mechanical earlier if someone who was Interested in automobile use to do B.Tech in Mechanical then Automobile as a specialization in his M.Tech but now coz of u can say growth in auto sector n a craze of Designing Automobile has emerged as a B.tech course. .

According to my opinion mechanical engineering is better for opportunities because with mechanical engineering you can work in any field . It is also better if you have ability and skills to do best in that field but everything is dependent on your rate of interest to so take your decision. Best of Luck.

Both of the branches have syllabus for first 2 years while after third year, mechanical engineering relates with wider scope of mechanical field like refrigeration and production while automobile relates with deep knowledge of automotive. But, when you go to job for automobile company, both mechanical and automobile students have the same chances. You should choose mechanical engineering as it has wider scope.
