B.Tech in IT is a better option than electrical engineering because it has a wide scope and has better career prospects as compared to electrical engineering. You have to choose stream according to your interest.

Yes, IT is challenging. It requires innovation and technical skills. You should be aware of new technologies available and software knowledge to get a good job. You should have good analytical skills.
