Hi,
I believe North Campus is better as compared to South Campus, since North Campus gives you a feel of a fully-fledged campus, as it consist of 9 colleges, which are in the form of 'L' shape. Whereas South Campus is a little scattered and it's doesn't give a feel of a campus.
Metro is easily available for you and accommodations near north campus are good and in budget. Many companies provide you with fully furnished places to live in good and clean localities. I myself contacted for this purpose of paying guest and had a great experience and time staying there.
All the best.
