    Appalachian State University is situated in Boone, North Carolina nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The city is situated roughly 2 hours from Charlotte and has a lot of mountains for sightseeing. From hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway to kayaking down the New River, there is always something to do in Boone. The closest airports to the university are Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Piedmont Triad International Report.
