Sorry, I have never heard about Nirma University. But, I will give my opinion about Sastra University. Sastra University is a world class institutions at par with the best private institutions of India. In Tamil Nadu, it is one of the top 5 colleges. Plenty of research opportunities and placements are available. Culture of Sastra University is very good, as people of various states study here.

Both are among the best engineering institutes of India. But, Institute of Technology, Nirma University is better among these two in the terms of training education and placements.
