Both IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bombay come in top 5 IITs. But everyone will suggest you to refer IIT Bombay as Bombay is a metropolitan city and it attracts students towards it and one of the main reasons is that IIT Bombay have the highest cutoffs, so you would want to go for it. It totally depends on your choice as to which location suits you.

    Hello,
It is obvious that the cut-off rank for IIT-Bombay is pretty high as compared to IIT-Kharagpur.
One major factor responsible for such cut-off at IITB is its location. The metropolitan city attracts lots of students. This might be a factor for a higher cut-off at IIT-Kharagpur.
There are many students here who don't have a good JEE rank, but outperform those having a good rank in college. All that matters is how sincere and diligent you are in the college.
Your choice of the college will be influenced by various factors.
If you want to enjoy your IIT life caring less about academics, or are not interested in core sector then you woul

IIT-Mumbai is far better than IIT-Kharagpur in all streams though many times CSE placement statistics clash with one another when talking about infrastructure. In aerospace branch the highest placement from Aerospace in IIT, Bombay is Rs.23 Lacs in Airbus France whereas it was 19 Lacs in IIT, Kharagpur from Boeing. Also, the average placement packages were 13 Lacs and 10 Lacs in the respective institutes. Although it is tougher to get into IIT-Mumbai than in IIT-Kharagpur, so one may also opt for aerospace in IIT, Kanpur which is there in all the IITs.

Both are the good IITs of India but IIT, Bombay is the best one so one has to score a less rank as compared to IIT, Kharagpur for getting admission here. Obviously, IIT-Bombay is the most wanted and first choice amongst all students.
    Best features of IIT, Bombay:
    1. It is one of the few IITs which is located in the midst of the city. Other IITs (except IIT Delhi in older IITs) are settled at the outskirts of the city.
    2. IIT Bombay's annual fests organized by student body like Mood-Indigo (Cultural) and Techfest (Technical) are highly recognized and popular in the student community and claimed to be biggest at Asia level.

I think comparing both these institutes on the basis of ranks is not unto mark as everyone knows that both the undergraduate programmes offered are worldwide renowned.
Talking about the programme of IITK - It has the toughest curriculum in the country presently.
If you are interested in the core field then IITK is the best institution in the country as there are extensive research offered at the university premises for the students at the campus.
The aerospace departments in the IITK has the best faculty for the study in the area with the best research facility in the country, faculty and quality of the students in the country.
