Which college is better for B.Tech in CSE: IIT Madras or IIT Bombay?

For CSE, no doubt, it’s IIT Mumbai. Mumbai’s CSE is the most desirable branch in India as well as a large part of the whole world. Though, it needs a huge hard work as well as dedication as one having air less than 55 will get the branch from general and 110 from SC or ST. Though, Madras’s CSE is also not bad but one cannot compare Mumbai’s CSE with Madras’s. Now a days, IIT Delhi’s CSE is coming into name as the placements and results from Delhi are much better than Mumbai. Also, IIT Mumbai was placed behind the IIT-Delhi in the QS world rankings. One more fact witnessed the progress of Delhi CSE is that the AIR 10 opted for Delhi CSE instead for Mumbai, although, it can be opted for around 80 rank for general. While comparing between Mumbai and Madras, Mumbai has better infra and competitive environment whereas in IIT Madras, it is better study and peaceful environment. Also, faculties and syllabus are almost equal but the difference is created by placements and quality of students. The average placement of Mumbai’s CSE is 50 lakhs per annum and the highest being 1.5 crores per annum whereas it is 39 lakhs from Madras and the highest being 80 lakhs. Thank you. I hope it helped.

Undoubtedly, IIT Mumbai enjoys the luxury of excellent location. It has beaches, it is a Bollywood hub, and it has great places to visit. Mumbai is the Financial Capital of India and draws more employers than any other IIT. IIT Delhi comes a close next but IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur are far below in the scale of location value. Living in a metro has its perks like better connectivity and better hostels. IIT Mumbai menu card has the greatest number of course options on it. The wide range of courses and their combinations are designed according to the current market demands and the potential demand in the near future. Hence, they prove to be greatly beneficial to students in terms of employment prospects. Over the past few years, IIT Mumbai has been able to attract best pay packages from multinational corporations across the world. Last year, the 5 the biggest salary packages offered to the IITians were offered to IIT-B students. In 2013, as many as 5 IIT Bombay students received a salary offer of about Rs 30 Lacs from MEC Japan, which was amongst the highest international offers made by the company. IIT Mumbai has made its curriculum quite flexible in the last few years much more relaxed or intensive than other IITs as per students choice. While the regular curriculum allows a lot of free time to students, there is a Minors and Honours System to allow students to choose as many courses they would like to pursue per semester.

It has offered near 100% Placements for CSE students and 20% of them already have PPOs. Moreover, average range for CSE goes from 8 to 20 LPA and hence, makes it an attraction for various students. The highest package is more than 1.3 crores past 3 years. The college offers state of art Faculty plus best Infrastructure to maintain quality education. With IIT madras, the internships provided here are decent for this specialisation specifically and The Placements for CSE is good enough, although campus Infrastructure is okayish and Average number of offers are lesser, hence, does not have edge over IIT Bombay.

In terms of placements, IIT-Bombay is the best since inception, it has offered near 100% Placements for CSE students and 20% of them already have PPOs. Moreover, average range for CSE goes from 8 to 20 LPA and hence, makes it an attraction for various students. Highest package is more than 1.3 crores past 3 years. The college offers state of art Faculty plus best Infrastructure to maintain quality education. With IIT madras, the internships provided here are decent for this Specialization specifically and The Placements for CSE is good enough, although campus Infrastructure is okayish and Average number of offers are lesser, hence, does not have edge over IIT Bombay. Also, average package is lower compared with 5-9 LPA on year in year basis with near 95% Placements on campus. First of all whichever college among the two you mentioned is going to ensure you the best of education in India simply because it’s IIT. Furthermore, if you want to get into the details, let me break it down for you: 1. IIT BOMBAY is on the top of the list of IIT's and hence the acceptance rate for the college is really low. Like it selects the best performing students in JEE Mains and the seats for which happen to finish after 150-200 ranks. 2. Taking in account your hometown, you should consider moving to the college which is closer to you hometown only. So, it’s easier to go back forth with no problem. Well again, almost 30% of the IITians don't prefer going back to the hometown during semester holidays. 3. A majority of faculty in Chennai are south Indians, not that I am promoting any differences, but it is a little hard to comprehend how they talk in the beginning, but you will definitely get the hang of it. Whatever choice you make, you are assured of going into the best hands in India. Choose wisely, cheers!

The colleges which you have mentioned are the top colleges in India. The competition which you'll be dealing with and course curriculum will be the same in both institutions. But the campus life beyond the classes in IIT Bombay is awesome which will make sure you have holistic development. IIT Bombay has a more of IIT culture. Even placements wise, IIT Bombay has a slight upper hand over IIT Madras. Quality of curriculum and faculty doesn't change much. So take a decision based on your location and preferences. Few points about IIT BOMBAY CSE: CSE at IIT Bombay is just excellent. Why am I saying so? Your peers are top JEE rankers. This automatically implies an excellent competition Professors are very qualified. Most professors have masters and doctorate degrees from top universities of the world. They are excellent in their respective fields Excellent curriculum. Our curriculum is well designed. It is rigid enough to ensure that we learn the most important concepts in CS. At the same time, it is flexible enough to allow us to choose our courses in the fourth year. Besides, the minor programme helps students to learn about other disciplines. Other worth mentioning points: They have projects in almost all courses. So, they have a lot of content for your resume. Moreover, this also facilitates practical learning. They have many lab courses. Labs help them to apply what we learned in theory. They have a more academic load. I have interacted with several friends at other IITs and without a doubt, I can say that we have a more academic load. You may take that as a negative point. Most people there take that as a challenge. We have the Bombay city advantage. You may argue that city doesn't matter. Startup environment. A lot of students go for startups.
