Which college is better for B.Tech in CSE: Institute of Engineering and Management or HIT, Kolkata?

Heritage Institute of Technology is certainly a lot better than Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata. Here, I would give you the reasons supporting the above statement in the form of pros and cons of selecting Heritage Institute of Technology: Pros: 1. Hostel facility is provided at Heritage Institute which is something not present with its competitor. 2. Heritage Institute has been granted the autonomous status by NAAC and you are free to choose the elective of your choice. 3. There are a lot more opportunities for a person to evaluate himself/herself in the field of extra-curricular activities while Institute of Engineering and Management is trying to incorporate them. 4. It has an open environment while the latter gives a school like environment. While the average placement package offered and the highest placement package are almost equivalent. If I had to choose among one of the two colleges as I have mentioned, I would be going for HIET. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Being a student of CSE second year, studying in HIT, I can properly justify this question. IEM and HIT are almost the same in terms of academics. In the ranking of MHRD, both HIT and IEM comes under the ranking of 101-150. The faculties of CSE department, here in HIT are almost good (Exceptions are always there). The classes are interactive. Some of the professors use IIT-KGP lectures and this helps in getting things more clear. The placement percentage is quite good. Around 85-90% CSE students are placed with around 3.5 - 4.00 LPA. Also, some get a package of 6-7 LPA. TCS mainly visits for campus drive. Some other visiting companies are Infosys, Wipro Tech, Mahindra, etc. Some good companies such as SAP and Polaris also visit but they do not recruit many students. Same is the scenario in IEM. I would say, HIT is better as compared to IEM. Also, HIT is now autonomous. HIT not only is good in academics, but you also get a wonderful campus out here. You get a complete Wi-Fi campus. IEM does not have anything called campus. Moreover, you will have to wear a uniform everyday, which does not really gives a feel of college life. College life is something you will always cherish. Infrastructure of heritage is praiseworthy. Library here is one of the best college libraries in west bengal. It comprises of central library, MCA library and departmental library under faculty of engineering and technology. Central library is fully air-conditioned and has more than sufficient seating seats. Also there is a digital library that includes e-books and e-journals. Excellent facilities for outdoor games such as cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, etc. There are common rooms for indoor games like Table Tennis, caroom. Apart from these, there is a PNB bank in the campus. The canteen is well maintained and price of the food is quite reasonable. There are much more. IEM lacks behind in this. Hence, considering everything, HIT turns out to be good over IEM.
