Which college is better for B.Tech in CSE: VNIT or NIT, Rourkela?

Both the colleges are good. NIT-Rourkela is a better college when compared to the course curriculum and placements. Placement wise it's very good. As mentioned by other people, almsot all big names come to pick up CS students. And year by year number of companies, quality of companies and pkg they are offering are also going up in a significant manner. In 2013 batch, average pkg was approx 6+ with more than 40% of batch holding a pkg of 7+ and highest pkg was 10+. 2015 batch though the exact figure of avg pkg I don't know, highest was 15+. Among all NITs it will rank around 5th or 6th for CSE. So after surathkal, trichy, warangle, allahabad, it can be placed. (bhopal, rourkela, durgapur will be almost equivalent). CSE from an old NIT will be definitely a big plus. If not in campus, you will get many opprtunities from bigger companies once you are in industry. Good thing about CSE at NIT Rourkela is that slowly the coding culture is gaining its pace in the institute. Competitive programming like codechef, topecoder etc. were alien terms in CSE 2 years back. Day by day people are more interested in coding and the result of which are also quite impressive. For me NIT Rourkela CSE is moving into period which it has never seen before. Hope the tradition they have started will gain momentum by their successorsMany of the top MNC's like Microsoft, Google, and core companies would visit NIT-Rourkela. The infrastucture facilities are very good in NIT. It is worth studying in NIT. Choose the best among the colleges according to your requirements.

Well comparing two institutes is a tough part because both are good. You need to go through: 1.Faculty Profile 2.Placements statistics 3.Alumni contacts NIT Rourkela is a better college with all these feature. Along with this, you will get a wonderful opportunity to be a part of it and you will also get a chance to showcase your talent. It has good placements record. Many of the top software companies like Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Amazon, Flipkart ,Reliance, TCS and many more companies are the regular recruiters of NIT Rourkela. The infrastructure of NIT Rourkela is also splendid. It is worth studying here in such an amazing place. Thank you!

Hello, So, being a B.Tech graduate from NIT Rourkela, I can tell you that CSE is too good here with all the placements and research opportunities. The professors are very cooperative and have well fabricated labs with best assets in them. CSE in Rourkela gives a 100% placement assurance and some big named companies visit for campus placements. Very soon, NIT will extend their Training and Placement department to Bhubaneshwar for better connectivity with big IT Giants. I hope this information was suffice to your query. Judging two NITs in terms of departments is difficult, but when we speak about NIT Rourkela, the professors have diverse knowledge about the subjects, and they do interact with students concerning problems and ideas. There are well-equipped labs in the CSE department and they organize coding marathons and workshops too. When we talk about the placements, companies visiting are Dell, SAP Labs, HP, Oracle Apps, Cloud, Financial Services, Samsung, Ericsson and various others. VNIT, Nagpur too have dedicated professors and great infrastructure which enhance the overall growth of CSE department. The placements are also decent, ranging from Rs 3.5 to Rs 8 lakhs.
