  • According to me, VIT is a better college than SRM in several aspects:
    Placements
    Research
    Academics (FFCS and CAL systems)
    Professional and social environment
Co extra-curriculars (around 150 clubs and chapters and fests which are some of the best in India)
However, SRM is better than VIT in a couple of aspects.
The Kathankulatur campus is bigger and better than the VIT, Vellore campus.
Since, all SRM campuses are located in and around Chennai, students of SRM can enjoy a proper city life.
In VIT the syllabus is project based learning and curriculum applied learning. This means neArly every core subject has one project that has to be submitted

    Greetings from SHIKSHA.
Since both the Institutes are among the best engineering Institutes of India. But For ECE, Vellore Institute of Technology is better than SRM University, Chennai because the courses and curriculum of Vellore Institute of Technology is better than that of SRM University Chennai.
Both the institutes have huge and eco-friendly campuses and the campus life of both the Institutes is very best.
Talking about the placements, the average packages of Vellore Institute of Technology is more than that of SRM University Chennai. Both institutes' students are placed in very good core companies.
So, both the institutes are good

VIT is one of the best institute for the B.Tech in India. SRM is also a good institute but I would still recommend to go for the VIT among the both since the environment of VIT is really apriciable it has good placements and best faculty members. VIT the syllabus is project based learning and curriculum applied learning. Many good companies do visit VIT for research and placements and they do provide very good package for the students. For ECE go with VIT.
    Cheers!

The college selection criteria which I used while selecting my college was placement. So I chose VIT (chennai) as I didn't get Vellore.
Coming to the course outline, the course taught is mostly same in both college but the marking pattern is completely different, In srm you have absolute marking where as in VIT you have relative and you have the freedom to choose your faculty.
The faculty in VIT are of various types some which have high knowledge to some which have 0. No idea about the faculty in srm, but heard they are okay.
Coming to infra, here in VIT Chennai you can take full campus tour in a max of 15 mins where in SRM it will take

VIT standing tall in the top 7 colleges in the private sector around the country is certainly better than SRM. More core companies visit VIT-Vellore than SRM-Chennai. Taking into account the previous year 3 students got placed in for a sum of 20 lacs by a core company, well for the others they either got placed in marketing or IT firm.
It is the same scenario for SRM as well only that fewer companies visit the campus (the core ones).
If you want to enjoy your college join SRM otherwise VIT is the right place for you.
At SRM, you are not bound to following a set of rules but at VIT it's a bit more strict and more disciplined.
    You have a

Both are pretty much the same but I am a student of SRM so I can tell you more about SRM than VIT. The faculty members and the facilities are quite good for ECE and the college life is also happening. A big advantage which SRM has over VIT is that it is closer to the city than VIT. The main city of Chennai is around 20 kilometers away. The infrastructure in both the colleges are of the same level and there are a lot of core companies which come for ECE in both the colleges. You will get an ample number of opportunities in both the colleges but the college life is a bit better in SRM as compared to VIT.
    You've not mentioned which campus
