While PEC is nice, but one of the best engineering colleges that exist right now is Thapar Institute of Technology. Their placements, faculty, admissions everything is A1 and honestly this is the college to be in. The admissions are open for a variety of courses, and one should apply as much as they can.

Both have good placement but in the case of infrastructure and facility, LPU is better than any other University. Being an alumnus of LPU I would prefer LPU as it has helped me grow professionally and provides exposure to various opportunities in terms of internships, workshops, guest lectures, industrial visits, placements, etc. LPU is the best engineering college in India. LPU becomes the best place to pursue an engineering degree with highly qualified teaching staff, best laboratories, and modern technologies. LPU provides abundant opportunities for students to think out of the box. With Quality of Education, Placements in LPU is al...more

Hi,
PEC Chd is one of the oldest technical institutions of India having around 100 years old legacy (Estd 1921) . One of the unknown facts is that erstwhile Principal of PEC Prof RN Dogra was the founding director of IIT Delhi .
PEC surely have an extra edge over Thapar. PEC has an intake of 650 students whereas Thapar have a intake of 1600 students. Fee of PEC in 4 year will cost you around 5 lacs whereas in Thapar, it can go upto 16 lacs. In terms of placements, also PEC surely is way ahead than Thapar. PEC has a package including all the 8 streams is 7.42 lac whereas Thapar has 6 lacs. The exposure you will get at pec is phenomenal...more -
Punjab Engineering College University of Technology is far better than Thapar University and below you may find the reasons supporting my statement:
1. The acceptance rate at Punjab Engineering College is lower than that of Thapar University, hence you can expect better student quality in Punjab Engineering College than in Thapar University.
2. The intake of students in Thapar university is much more than in Punjab Engineering College that being more than 1500 for Thapar and around 600 for PEC.
3. The average placement package considering all the branches in Punjab Engineering College is higher than that of Thapar University i.e. 7 LPA...more -
Both the colleges are located in the North region, being in Punjab.
Both the institutions are esteemed and provide with quality education along with many other facilities.
Now coming to comparison then definitely go for Thapar University.
The university though charges a high fee, but provides quality education and facilities, and has modern infrastructure whereas PEC Chandigarh is relatively small and has a very old infrastructure.
The faculties at Thapar University are remarkable and the same is accompanied by the quality of students.
For mechanical engineering, they are equipped with modern labs, equipment, workshops and many event and s...more -

I've had a really good experience with the mechanical engineering faculty at Chandigarh University. Most of them are PhD holders, so you can tell they know their subject inside out. What I like is that they're not just teaching from books—they share real-world examples, guide us in labs, and help with projects. The faculty is approachable, so if you ever get stuck on something, you can just ask, and they'll explain patiently. They also encourage students to explore electives like Thermal & Energy Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing, or Design & Robotics, and help you pick what suits your career goals.

Yes, Chandigarh University is a good choice for B.E. in Mechanical Engineering. What I really like about the programme is the variety of specializations you can pick, like Thermal & Energy, Industrial Manufacturing & Management, or Automation & Robotics. The labs are another strong point from 3D printing and advanced welding labs to industry-backed centres by Honda, Mahindra, Hyundai, and MG Motors. These collaborations give you hands-on exposure that feels very close to real-world industry work. On top of that, the department is both ABET and NBA accredited, which adds global recognition.
