IEM has a better work culture. If you want to study hard and do something big in academics then go for IEM. There is a continuous pressure of practicals and assignments and tests, so one have to be extremely determined and sincere in order to last in IEM. Timely submissions is mandatory. So, 4 years in IEM will be hard work but if you can do it then it will be fruitful.
Instead, if you want an easy college life then you should choose heritage. You won't face any of the strictness of IEM over there and in the end, you will get the same job as you will get if you pass out from IEM. The hard life in IEM will help you if you want to do M.Te

Both are the top private engineering colleges of Kolkata,so you can choose any one of them, but if you want me to take one out of it then I will go with IEM because of slightly better placements.

Both of these technical colleges have good faculties, good student atmosphere. It depends on how you look at it. These technical institutes aim at making you a good engineer. It depends on how much you are willing to co-operate with them and how much faith and trust you are going to show them towards achievement of your goal. Basically, in terms of college infrastructure and facilities, I guess Heritage Institute of Technology is far ahead of many other popular colleges in Kolkata. In terms of placement, I feel IEM is a little ahead of what we have in IEM college.
