Well, that is a tough question. Comparing the fees, placements and faculty the beam bends slightly towards TIET. Given that they have started admissions both through JEE marks and class 12th marks, I would pick TIET.

If we compare both the institutions on the basis of studies, faculty, quality if education and placements, I would totally recommend you vit Vellore over thapar university. Teachers in vit Vellore are exceptionally good and also you can choose your own teacher which is the best part
In terms of placement: thapar is above VIT. COLLEGES OF SIMILAR LEVEL CAN ONLY BE COMPARED WITH EACH OTHER. Both colleges are very renowned and have good track records. In the recently published MHRD ranking, VIT was ranked 13 and Thapar University was ranked 27 in the list of India's top engineering colleges.

LM Thapar School of Management is a great college to pursue your MBA from. The comparison between these two colleges will mostly depend on where you want to join, North India or South India. Thapar is famous in the Northern States of India for the quality of education and placements it provides to its engineering and MBA students. VIT has made a name for the same in Southern parts, So wherever you join, do your best and get placed.

I believe that VIT Vellore is better than Thapar University, but VIT's placements are good they have tie ups mass recruiters, they have very well infrastructure and good student-faculty ratio.
