Both are good colleges. But I will prefer UPES. Its study has a good pattern.
Its placements are also quite good for CSE.
If we exclude mass recruitment, then placements are very good. In mass recruitment, you can get more than 4 LPA. -

UPES is better than LPU for CSE. Though, institute is better known for petroleum and energy studies. Moreover, if you are getting into UPES CSE, and can afford to get into ( it's relatively expensive though ), then go for it. -

LPU is a good college if you are looking to opt for Master degree too otherwise go for UPES. UPES is far more better university than LPU in terms of the placements and career progression. -
UPES is better than LPU as LPU there is only crowd and there is nothing like quality but this is not there in UPES, there you can find experienced professors and there assistants as well as there is laboratories far better than LPU plus hostel life of UPES is better than LPU.
