No doubt Thapar is one of the best and reputed private engineering colleges of northern India. The quality of crowd and environment is very good there. CSE is most sought after branch there. You will learn a lot. Although, VIT is also a very good University.

I'll say you should prefer Thapar when you score good marks in JEE Mains and have got a bit less % in boards, As Thapar University only admits through JEE (Mains) marks. Best of Luck. Between CSE at VIT Vellore at 5 Lacs p. a. and SRM at 2.5 Lacs p. a. , which should I go for.
