While there are many colleges and universities providing Biotechnology programs, you need to know the right parameters to compare them:
You must chose a programme which has:
Curriculum : If at all the curriculum is continuously upgraded and developed with consultations and feedback of industry. Since biotech is going to have a sea change I how the things work, is a highly dynamic field, you cant afford a programme which is stuck in obsolete technologies and syllabi. Pedagogy : The teaching pedagogy formal the backbone of how the programme is delivered, more the practical, better it is. Maximum exposure to practical and internships more chances of becoming a well rounded professional. Technology: The businesses and the business functions are now highly tech driven, the tech programme must have the exposure and training of the same. Industry interface: Ultimately its the industry which is going to immerse the students in the placements, the regular industrial talks, interactions, lectures, visits and internships are must have in any tech programme. Professional etiquette: It is the most important part these days, the personality, ethics, virtuous, speech, body language, interpersonal skills etc. Are given high importance in the organizations. The programme must include the training or modules on all these. Entrepreneurship : Even though most of the students go for jobs, the exposure to entrepreneurship is required. This helps the professionals know how the other departments and the profit center heads work, what are the expectations etc. The college must have innovation labs, design thinking and business incubator. Placements : The programme is only means to the end ! And desired end of such course is a placement. You must check if the college/university has sold track record of placements or not. If your college has all of these you will have a decent salary as well as exposure to start a career at a good level. Per my experience of last 16 years in education, I can vouch for the facts that LPU, Punjab has done exceptionally well on all these parameters and has a solid track record in last decade or so. I don't know many colleges in Punjab. But I am aware about Lovely Professional University which also has B.Sc. Biotechnology. Admission in all the courses are open through online mode. During this period of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, to support prospective students (candidates) to apply for admissions, direct online/remote admissions (subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria) process has been started. If you re looking for quality education, good placements, exposure, academics then LPU is right place, it has all.
