To secure admission in a good college and preferred branch, you should prioritize appearing for JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling if you have qualified in JEE Main or JEE Advanced. JoSAA manages the centralized seat allocation process for admissions to 110 participating institutes, including prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs across India.

CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) is specifically for admissions to NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs for candidates who did not participate or were not allotted a seat through JoSAA.

Based on your rank, you have a few possibilities for counseling to secure a good college and branch. Let's investigate them:

It encompasses a wide spectrum of institutions, including famous ones such as IITs and NITs.
CSAB manages seat distribution for institutes not covered by JoSAA. These include seats at Self-Financed Technical Institutes (SFTIs) and other collaborating institutions. CSAB counseling is also done online.
AKTU has its own counseling process for admission to engineeri

No, one does not have to apply separately at IIT Madras website after JoSAA counselling. This is because the institute follows a common admission process for its BTech course just like the other IITs. Shortlisted students who get a seat through the JoSAA counselling, simply need to report for document verification and pay the acceptance fees. All the details of the students will be forwarded to IIT Madras by JoSAA directly. Information about the orientation, fee payment, and hostel allocation will be mailed online.
