Hello,
After completion of BE/B.Tech one can pursue M.Tech in Agriculture which includes study like crop process engineering, firm machinery and power, soil and water conservation etc. A Ph.D degree of three years is also offered at IIT-Kharagpur, and Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. Thank you. -
Recruitment-wise agriculture is better. Agricultural scientist recruitments, state government etc. UPPSC advertises for B.Sc. agriculture passouts throughout the year, though vacancies are low in number. B.Tech Biotech will bring you no government job, very less employability in private sector too.

Both are very specialised fields and have narrow but solid scope. It also depends on what you want to do after graduating. If you want to start working immediately then Agriculture is better. However, if you can and want to study further then go for Biotechnology and plan for doing Masters from India or US.

With the current status of the country, you should definitely opt for biotechnology. It will serve dual purpose.
