Biotechnology is a newer field. Biotechnology will take time to establish in India. Microbiology is an evergreen field though old. people from microbiology can migrate to biotechnology jobs.

Actually, Microbiology is a sub-topic of Biotechnology, adding to that it includes Bio-Informatics, Immunology, Plant - Biotechnology, and lots of other subject.
So, I think it will be good for you, if you study Biotechnology for your UG, and then do a specialization in your PG, such as Microbiology or maybe you'll be interested in something else, then you can decide to pursue that without any regrets .
