Which course has more opportunities in NZ: highway engineering or quantity surveying? I'm a quantity surveying Diploma holder.

    The highway engineer in NZ is also called a Roading Engineer. Now, Highway or roads is also one of the ever growing area along with other areas of Civil Engineers. Similarly, QS are also in great demand ( you can check in the latest skill shortage list). So, both streams are good.

    Few years back, New Zealand was indeed seeking immigrants to its work requirement. The country is small in size, and hence the political fraternity does not want immigration in all the fields. The New Zealand government therefore decides the areas in which there is shortage of expertise and seeks to fill it up by immigrants. For this they announce every year the areas. A team from New Zealand even comes to India seeking students to come there or even the professionals to come there on immigration basis and settle and work in that country.
