    As rightly mentioned by our expert that choice of branch should be based on self aptitude and interest, I would like to further add that all branches of engineering provide more or less equal opportunities in terms of job.
    Coming to your question, earlier the branch is used to be called as Electronics & Telecommunication when there were no mobile communication and computer communication. The subjects then dealt with radio, TV, telegraph and satellite communication. Now mobile and computer communication are major subjects in this branch and since they can not be termed as "tele" , the branch is named as Electronic
