Which course is given preference over the other: B.Ed or B.Ed in Special education? Why?

Both courses are different. Each have their own importance in their own way.

B.Ed is a course in which the candidates are trained in teaching for normal students like the students without any disabilities. Special B.Ed is a course in which the candidates are given training in teaching for disability students like mentally retarded, deaf, dumb and blind students. Special B.Ed

Both are quite different, not only salary wise but also personality wise. A special education teacher must be kind hearted, down to earth, caring and emotionally strong. I think it depends upon the field in which you want to enter. If its special education in schools and the job demand is the same then B.Ed special will be given preference but if one is entering into normal education then B.Ed with psychology background is preferred.
