As a coder myself, I have learned that in order to best secure my sites & clients websites is to dive deep into the Overarching Topic of cyber security.
Things you should be familiar with:
Penetration Testing - Is the act of testing the security of your network, server, website or app.
System Administration - consider your server to be your fort where your code or male websites live. Your website can have armor protecting it like a knight but being in a fortified server will ensure your site is protected from the source.
Network Analysis - Your server will often be connected to a network. So it is important to understand the traffic coming in and out of your server. This will help you to identify potential attacks early and allow you to get in front of it.
Quality Code - Since you're a coder, make sure you use the best security practices when developing your websites or web apps. Never trust user input.
CLI, terminal, command prompt or powershell - Learning how to work in the Command Line will help you to work faster and more efficiently.
Cyber security is a large topic and there are many aspects to it but the 3 above are key points to research. Also watch out for social engineering attacks, phishing attacks etc.
