Microbiology is very specific and comes under the broader aspect of biotechnology. You can pursue master's in either of them or may take up mba to enter the corporate world. You also have option of upsc to join bureaucracy. Appear for NET to become a professor or researcher. You hv ample choices.

Both the courses are related to genetic engineering and if you choose biotechnology as a BSC course, then there are better opportunities. It also includes application in therapeutics; diagnostic; genetically modified crops for agricultural, bioremediation, energy production, etc. Good luck.
