    Hi Veda
Its a wrong thought that only Arts graduates can take IAS easily. When, we check the list of IAS toppers , we can understand that IAS officers are more from Engineering, Medical and Science background.I can give you many examples.
You can opt B Tech degree for IAS . After graduation, you can apply for Civil Service ,Prilims exam, which is usually conducted on May-June of every Year. Civil Service has two sections .Ie

In my opinion, you should complete your B. Tech. IAS is very hard to reach. So, in case, if you can't get IAS, then your B. Tech degree will help you. Be practical. Best of luck for future !

You can pursue any as per your area of interest. What actually matters for IAS Entrance is your knowledge and command on the subjects. If you have interest in BA then check out once BA program offered by UPES Dehradun. This program is 'BA in PUblic Administration with IAS coaching and test preparation', specially designed for IAS aspirants. You can check more course details on University website. All the best!

Opt for B.tech as it will secure your future in case you won't be able to achieve your dream of IAS. Getting into IAS is not that easy therefore it is necessary that you should secure your future first and then start your preparations.

I'm an engineering student and advice you to go with BA and start preparing for civil service exam, engineering student do not have time for extra study. Now BA is a very easy course and gives large time space for extra study. Due to this reason many people choose common courses rather than professional courses but if you choose BA than you have only one option to crack civil service exam because BA and MA field job do not give you sufficient salary. Decide your choice carefully and practically. I will also advise you meet any IAS officer personally and understand about his job and timetable in working day. This will give you idea about

If you want to become IAS then you should opt B.A.
If you choose B.Tech you will have to focus on your engineering studies and will not get sufficient time for preparing for UPSC.So I would suggest you to choose B.A so that you can prepare yourself. All the best for your UPSC exams.
