Which course should I pursue for better career prospects: Mass media or journalism?

They are so closely, inter-related at a glance and they ultimately lead us same places.

Aakanksha, There are several careers in media in writing, production or post production. you can become a reporter, actor or getting behind the camera to direct, cinematograph or do finishing work as an editor, compositor or a VFX artist who can add reality to 3D vizualizations. you may even be a graphic artist who designs the screens, or an animator who brings stories to life as a proxy actor for onscreen characters. you can get into production, whether live or animated. You can be a story writer who writes for live and animated screens or even roll the story into a video/ pc game. you can be a script writer who would stop at nothing to give wonderful scene setups to bring the story to life. you could be an artist who designs characters or who storyboards the film for live or animated performance. you can also double up as a voice over artist who gives his/ her voice to the characters or dub for movie stars, or even be a radio star. you can alternatively look at web for a web of careers in web design, online marketing, search engine optimization, content writing, social media promoting. Any extra skill can be used in this. So it turns out to be one of the most challenging as well as satisfying careers. Sure not recommended for the weak hearted. Do remember that digital design careers (e.g. web design, graphics, UI design, animation, vfx, multimedia) give better profits since they can be delivered anywhere in the world &amp; hence may earn in dollars - resulting in better rewards for designers. Hi Aakansha, There are various career options available these days. Before you decide what to do after 12th, it is important that you become aware of a critical factor for success in your chosen profession. With the combination of biology, physics and chemistry you can take up medicine, dentistry, Pharmacy, agricultural science, dairy science or biological sciences (biochemistry, biotechnology, Microbiology). Apart from doing the degree level courses in science with the conventional combinations you can also choose degree courses in several emerging professional areas, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, computer, business administration, hotel management, tourism management etc. you can also opt for courses outside the university stream, such as hotel management, fashion technology, industrial design, packaging, aircraft maintenance engineering, government accredited computer courses and a host of post 10 + 2 level vocational courses. With a PCM combination of subjects, you can pursue almost any field you set your mind on. You can ofcourse do Engineering which is a professional degree and has streams such as Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic and Communication etc. You can do your graduation in subjects of your interest, even switching to Humanities or Commerce streams if you so desire. You can do a BCA (Computer Applications), BBA (Business Administration), Law, Civil Aviation – Pilot, Astronomy, Architecture, Design, Mass Communication, Merchant Navy, Defense Forces, Psychology, Civil Services etc. To decide on the course, you should analyse your strengths, career goals, interests, personality, aptitude and ability.
