Which course should I pursue, MBA or PGDM? What is the significance of a university for pursuing MBA or PGDM?

With 5 years work experience, you may check executive programs by prestigious institutes like IIMs, XLRI, etc. There is no big difference between MBA & PGDM, just that most of the institutes conferred upon degree for Business administration as PGDM meaning Post Graduate Diploma in Management.

I feel distance MBA and than E-MBA is a sheer waste of time and money. Instead enhance your work experience and go for executive programme from reputed institutes but do check cost effectiveness and returns of the fee structure.

As Harshit said, E-MBA is good for you but do from good college, you will get really good opportunities after that.

If you have five years of work, you should go for either MBA or E-MBA which will help you in your career growth. Also, E-MBA is for 1 year so it will save your time. You should go for regular MBA and distance may not help you much in career growth.

Yes, you can E-MBA later on also. Also, if you do not want to loose job then in EMBA classes are conducted on weekends. So, that will not affect your work also.

The MBA students are more preferred over PGDM students when it comes to certain job sectors like government agencies, banks, financial institutions, etc. MBA is basically a theoretical based study while PGDM is a skill-based approach.
