Guwahati University is one of the oldest Universities in North-East India, Gauhati University was established in the year of 1948. Started functioning as an affiliating, teaching, and residential university in a few temporary buildings in Guwahati with eighteen affiliated colleges and eight Postgraduation Departments; today, it functions with 341 affiliated colleges along with thirty-plus postgraduation Departments. Besides these, it also houses an IDOL (Institute of Distance and Open Learning) and a constituent Law College. Ranked 36 under the University category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2022, the university is also accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an A grade. Under all its affiliated colleges and departments, Guwahati University offers over hundred courses across Law, Arts, Science, Management, Medicine, and Health Science and Technology.
