Every branch has its own merits and demerits. However, I can list out the advantages and disadvantages in EEE which you can use to decide your future goals.
Firstly, EEE has a higher number of seats in the PSU as compared to ECE.
Secondly, there are more post in EEE for engineering services than in ECE.
Again, if you are considering higher studies (M.Tech) then EEE has some of the best departments like power and control, power electronics etc. These subjects will offer you a wide range of research areas.
There are some departments where both EEE and ECE students can take part, like control and automation. However, the seats for EEE gradua

Both the branches have equal opportunities to get a good job and the rest depends on how you study your engineering and enhance your skill so that those can be used in your work area. Remember to get into a good college.

ECE has an edge over EEE as you will get the knowledge of electronics as well as communications. Both these fields are changing in a rapid way. You can see the recent changes in communication technology for internet 2G was introduced just a couple of years ago and 3G not even got chance to get a comfortable position and 4G technology introduced. So, in India you have a enormous scope in this field, Electronics on the other hand will be on boom as cashless transactions and mobile apps usage is going to increase in a rapid way. India will focus more on indigenous mobile applications and smartphones hence more opportunities for engineers

ECE is mainly based on physics (electronics and magnetics) and mathematical applications including some software concepts too.
While EEE is also almost the same but with less mathematical application and includes some hardware concepts.

ece is basically derived from eee. as u speak of India EEE has more opportunities than ECE . in global universities there is no separate department called ECE there is department called electrical and electronics , something related with electrical. In global market there is demand for electronics engineers.

EC will lead you to IT software companies. Even EE is also the best.

EEE is like a mother branch and ECE is sort of derived from it. Both have a number of similar subjects. Their dissimilarity lies in that ECE has major focus on semiconductor, transistor, op-amp, microprocessor etc.
EEE also touches these domains, but maybe not as deeply. ECE also has communication subjects like digital signal processing, analog signal processing, satellite communication, etc., whereas EEE has subject on motors, transformers, grid lines, etc.
This also depends upon the college you are going to join and the faculty there and which stream gets better placements and packages.
