Syllabus of computer science and IT overlap between 80 to 90% in various universities. CS is the study of computers and computational systems. IT engineering is application of CS for enterprises to meet business goals. CS graduates can easily do both application and systems development whereas as IT engineers are trained to work on application development. Indian IT industry prefers CS graduates over IT because CS is branch taken by toppers in all engineering entrance examinations.
