Which engineering branch is better: Electronics and communication engineering or IT engineering?

Actually both are good. It depends upon your taste. In placement wise ECE is little better than IT as it has more offers in the public sector. Also ECE is considered to be somewhat of an evergreen branch. If you do specialization after doing B.Tech in ECE, there is a great demand in the market for s

It completely depends on your interest, what you want to become 10 years from now and of course the college in which you are planning to pursue. All the engineering branches have their own importance and future. Since Im from ECE, let me just compare and contrast ECE with respect to CSE. ECE:
