IT AND CS both are same till 3rd year but in 4th year Cs student is study about hardware and software both but in IT only software.
This is only reason to diffrentiate it and cs
so cs is preferred over it and bettet salary is of cs

All companies treat computer science and information technology as equal. So, don't need to worry about opting for the better one. If you have to select IT at a Better college vs. CS at a lower ranked college, you must opt for IT at better college. 95% subjects taught in both branches are the same.

considering application and knowledge wise, IT & CS are nearly same, and hence will provide nearly equivalent jobs with equivalent packages.

Purvi , going by what we are actually seeing rightn ow both in India and abroad CS stands a bit above IT branch. But still you weigh the options in terms of your personal interest because only your interest would make you successfull in one of them. Targeting Salary for choosing the branch seems god

CSE is the best branch. If you could manage to pursue M.Tech from any of the IITS then you can get high salary package as well.

It is your area of interest which will be giving you good salary because when you have interest then only you will be able to give your best inputs and then only you will be able to gain the knowledge.
So believe in yourself and capabilities instead of just flowing blindly where all other idiots are
