Which engineering branch should I opt for in IIT, robotics or CSE?

    It depends on your interest. But, yes robotics is certainly better. There is a lot of crowd in CSE.

    B.Tech CSE is the most sought after branch by IIT aspirants. Placement record of CSE graduates from IIT is excellent. CSE graduates from IITs can easily get admission abroad for higher studies. Robotics is a developing interdisciplinary course. I will recommend that you can do MS/ M.Tech in robotics after CSE graduation. You can prefer CSE over robotics at graduation level.
