I'm guessing you want to know what major to pursue at university in order to work as a software engineer, right? In addition, I will answer your question based on the assumption that you are a person from India. Having a scientific education is essential for a career as a Software Engineer or in any other branch of Engineering. There are two approaches in India. It is basically the same I believe with some differences in the core subjects. Information technology and computer Science are great courses on their own. I believe there must be some specific difference but not as such. The demand in the industry is actually the same and I believe that information technology is a kind of specialisation of computer Science because there is a specialisation called data Science in CSE. There is more hype about CSE but I do not think there is any need or compulsion for you to pursue CSE. Just do what you believe you have passion/interest for in your life. Well, each and every branch in engineering is good. We can't compare them. There are just few differences like mechanical, electrical and civil are evergreen branches, but CS IT and EC have high placement records. Other than this, you may also take chemical, metallurgy, mechatronics, etc. So, choose a suitable branch. Go for it.
