7 years agoAfter 12th, you need to take SAT in order to be eligible to apply to a lot of major universities abroad. However, it is not compulsory. Some colleges do not require SAT scores. Some require ACT. But some require none of them. I would suggest you take SAT preferably in 12th grade or even after that as soon as possible and then look into individual websites of the colleges you want to apply to. To check if they accept TOEFL or IELTS. Both of them are English tests. some colleges ask for TOEFL and some want IELTS scores. If you don't know how to get started, attend some study abroad fairs.

Yes. You must practice "Complete the Words" (filling missing letters) and "Build a Sentence" (unscrambling words). Also, the Speaking section now has "Listen and Repeat" and "Take an Interview" tasks with no preparation time, replacing the old 2025 independent tasks.
Yes! Scores stay valid for 2 years. For a transition period (2026–2028), your score report will show both the new 1.0–6.0 band and a comparable 0–120 score. This helps universities compare your results fairly during the switch.
In TOEFL 2026, the computer monitors your answers in Module 1. If you do well, Module 2 becomes harder to help you get a higher band score. This multistage adaptive system replaces the fixed-length sections used in 2025.
TOEFL 2025 exam duration was about 2 hours. In the 2026 update the total time is cut to around 90 minutes. This is because the Reading and Listening sections are now adaptive, making the test faster and more personalized.
