It depends on what you have focused while pursuing your ECE. If you have been attentive in your classes and scoring well in your semester exams, then GATE will be easier for you. CAT is the toughest exam in India. GATE exam will require information from your syllabus. CAT is all about reasoning, quant and verbal. GATE also has questions from these but they are only few in number.

Well, you are an engineering student. So, GATE is easy for you, but GATE and CAT both are tough exams. And for you, CAT is tough because you are a science student and CAT is different from it.
