CSE has currently maximum job opportunities but Mechanical is a recession proof branch which has held its position for last 5 decades. You can choose any based on your interests.

Right now, computer science engineering has more scope and better placement opportunities. With all these new startups and MNCs coming to India CSE is a branch where you want to be in coming 4-5 years. It depends on what are you comfortable in. If you want to do a hard work life - time then obviously mechanical is better than computer science because for Mechanical you have a 100% job assurance but in the field of computer science it totally depends on your college and normally it is about 60-65 %

It depends entirely on one's interest and capability.
Both the fields are good and offer good placements.
But i feel CS has an edge as Software engineers are in great demand and the future belongs to computers.

cs or mechanical both have dominated the placement on engineering but each course differ from college to college some have cs better while some have mechanical better so it's all up to college
