I am a chemical engg professional and want to learn a foreign language that can boost my career. Kindly guide me which one to take up Or which language is the most preferred one these days.

English ofcourse is the foreign language most prefered for any professional Manasi. Apart for this it the preference is generally given to German language and then French.
