Civil engineering. After civil engineering you can pursue for a diploma in b.arch which is useful for becoming a good architect with civil engineering.

Civil engineering and architecture are different fields that cannot be compared as such.
Architecture is more of creativity and civil is the application part of that creativity, so i think which one is better depends on your like and caliber and should be choosen accordingly.
Though in terms of scope in government sector i would prefer Civil engineering over architecture in the current scenario.

Architecture has a wide range of applications. When creating structures, you have a lot of chances to show off your imagination and intelligence. Every structure is unique. Each project is unique. There is no such thing as monotony in life. To say the least, the thrill and challenge of the job are thrilling. If you enjoy working with your hands, architecture may be the ideal career path for you. You get to work with your hands in an Architecture study programme. It's not just about reading and writing all the time; many activities require a hands-on approach. It's a really active field, with individuals building scale models, conducting surveys, and talking to people. It may appear that architecture is a 9 to 5 office career, but it is not. There's a lot more to it than that. You get to work on real-life difficulties of developing effective structures even as an Architecture student. If you enjoy going on road trips every now and again, you're in luck. You get to travel a lot in this line of work. You must visit building sites and put your foot on the ground. Town planner and cityscape designer is the job title. Teaching and research are two aspects of my job. Journalism in the field of architecture. The capstone project is an integral part of B.Tech programme in which students have to pick a live project based on the practical problem-based scenario (ideally from industry) and work for six months under a mentor and present a report at the end. This is beneficial to enhance your presentation skills.
3. There is an internship programme which could be an opportunity for getting work experience and increase your chance to get employment after you pass out. But, of course, your academic record should be good to get this placement option.
4. Industrial visits are organized to nearby construction sites from time to time. There, you can SEE actual construction work going on. Be prepared to have dust on your shoes (believe me, it will be worth a lot). You have to ask questions yourself and trigger interest in the activities around you.
5. You will get some courses from soft skills, English language, mental and analytical aptitude side. This sounds dull to you as of now. But you will feel its importance when you face an interview panel in a company during your placement drives.
6. They have very good placement records and good infrastructure companies visit their campus, L & T, Simplex Piles Ltd, Era Infrastructure, Gammon India Ltd to name a few.
7. Career oriented Software training in project labs is given. To work in this profession, you are supposed to be familiar with software like MS-Project, STAAD Pro, MX Road, etc. None the less, you will be trained in Auto CAD in your second year which is prerequisite for any Civil Engineer.
8. Every theory course is complemented with relevant lab-based practical work. Some of the labs are based on field testing where experimental work is to be done, e. g. Soil Lab & Surveying Lab. I hope this helps
