Which has a better scope and why: CSE or IT?

You are taught regarding the basic applications of a technology. It makes you an expert at the surface level of the tech, which will aide you to develop skills required at the industrial level. A good example would be a Network Administrator. You need to know about Networking and some basic hardware and software rules. IT can teach you what you need to know about their functionalities. Computer Science and Engineering on the other hand, is dedicated to both professional and research tracks. A Computer Engineer is someone who would have indepth knowledge about the Hardware systems as well as the Software systems. Although, Computer Engineers are often categorised with Electrical Engineers. As they are both dedicated to expertise in the Hardware division while having above average knowledge on Theoretical or Software division of Computers. You will observe that most Universities have a common department for CS and EE. E. g. EECS in MIT. A Computer Scientist is the opposite to a Computer Engineer. Computer Scientists work on Software systems and Theoretical CS. Either ways, CS. Combined will give you an excellent in depth knowledge about the workings and principles of both Hardware and software systems. Whereas IT, with a similiar coursework as CS. Would not give you such in-depth knowledge.

You first need to understand the basic difference between the two terminologies. Information technology (IT) may adopt the monikers information systems or systems administration. Essentially, IT professionals are the users of technology. Whereas, Computer Science (CSE) background person, I.e computer 'scientists' are focused with the theory of computational applications. That means they understand the why behind computer programs. Now as far as the studies are concerned, IT is more theoretical based. Whereas Computer Science includes almost all concepts needed from IT as well as programming skills required for working & creating real life technological tools. Also I would like to add a lot of colleges are dissolving IT as an independent stream and merging its fundamental subjects with Computer Science Stream, as IT is considered to be a subset of CSE. And generally for placements or higher studies, preference is given to a student from CSE background as compared to IT. Career scope: CSE: Job openings for Software professionals is much higher in the corporate sector than in public sector. Professionals can join as junior programmer, database administrator, junior network manager, Data Analyst, Software Developer, Software Engineer, and Client-Server Systems Manager etc in the initial stage. Students have job opportunities at organizations like IBM, Intel, HP, TCS, INFOSYS, WIPRO, TECHMAHINDRA,CTS and Dell in India and abroad. IT: Career options after B.Tech in Information Technology are good. IT Specialists are required in almost all range of employment fields such as finance, arts, medicine, defense, and other areas. Many opportunities are available in various IT firms all over India. Some of the leading IT Companies are Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Accenture, HCL Infotech, IBM, etc. These professional can get jobs in many public sector firms. Some of the leading public sector firms are BSNL, ISRO, CDIT, CDAC, etc. Concluding my statement, CS always has an upper hand over IT and offers better placement packages as well. This is because a student from CSE is presumed to be familiar with all concepts of subjects offered in IT but the same cannot be said for a student of IT.

CSE: Computer science engineers are involved in many aspects of computing, from the design of individual microprocessors, hardware orchestrated management, virtual network management, personal computers and Artificila intelligence design to circuit designing and writing software codes that make it the final product. IT: Information Technology deals with the use of electronic computers, Their architecture and software to store, analyze, Derive, protect process, transmit and securely, cleanse retrieve data. IT professionals perform a variety of tasks that range from installing applications, Managing dashboards, System Risk Management, Database administration to designing complex computer networks and Cyberspace protocol. Overall scope is equivalent but the general trend looks for CS as they offer more versatility, velocity and innovation in terms of both worlds of hardware and software. Degree Coursework Information Technology: A degree program in IT focuses on infrastructure over software development. Introductory to advanced classes cover programming, hardware, networking, system installation and administration, and computer security. IT students also need good basic math skills to earn their degree and succeed in their profession. Computer Science: Computer Science majors need to excel at maths and science, and must be skilled at analytical problem-solving. The coursework typically includes the study of algorithms, operating systems, programming languages, software engineering, artificial intelligence, databases, and network systems. 4. First of all, you need to know the difference between the two almost synonymous branches: CSE is Computer science, focussing basically on the study of computers and it deals with the study of engineering behind computers.It deals with programming, algorithms, data handling, data storage, software engineering, operating systems and more scientific and practical approaches. CS engineers have a deeper knowledge of computational systems. It includes all concepts related to programming tools that are helpful in application basis.CSE curriculum focuses on the real time development and computational development in the forms of algorithms, OS etc. and it can be a combines study of hardware with software embedded with Operating systems. You can choose your interest accordingly.Programming skills are important and vital part of CSE. CS engineers create platforms on which IT people rely to solve problems. If we talk about course structures, then CSEhave less practical component as compares to IT guys in many colleges. CSE guys know almost all the concepts needed in IT study as well as the knowledge of their own domain. IT stands for Information technology.IT is more of a Professionally oriented course. The curriculum focusses on the basic applications of technology.One thing is that IT branch is an extension of CSE developed to compensate the increasing demand of CSE seats. Even new IIIT's have been opened in 2005 as an initiative by MHRD. IT focusses more on infra type domains as, network fields, Android Programming, Functional Programming, Wireless Sensors, Angular JS, Cloud Computing, etc. IT is more information and theory based.
