You first need to understand the basic difference between the two terminologies.
Information technology (IT) may adopt the monikers information systems or systems administration. Essentially, IT professionals are the users of technology.
Whereas, Computer Science (CSE) background person, I.e computer 'scientists' are focused with the theory of computational applications. That means they understand the why behind computer programs.
Now as far as the studies are concerned,
IT is more theoretical based.
Whereas Computer Science includes almost all concepts needed from IT as well as programming skills required for working & creating real life...more -
You are taught regarding the basic applications of a technology. It makes you an expert at the surface level of the tech, which will aide you to develop skills required at the industrial level. A good example would be a Network Administrator. You need to know about Networking and some basic hardware and software rules. IT can teach you what you need to know about their functionalities. Computer Science and Engineering on the other hand, is dedicated to both professional and research tracks. A Computer Engineer is someone who would have indepth knowledge about the Hardware systems as well as the Software systems. Although, Computer Engi...more
